10. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge

The story begins when Simran (Kajol) meets Raj (Shahrukh Khan) on a train trip across Europe, her last chance to explore the world before she gets married to an unknown guy in India. Initially, they are seen fighting with each other, pulling each other’s leg at every opportune moment. But as the time for departure closes, they both find themselves deep in love. During the second half of the movie, Raj has his work cut out as he strives hard to please everyone in Simran’s family, especially Simran’s dad. But in the end, he succeeds and that too very convincingly.

9. Namaste London

Jazz (Katrina Kaif), a beautiful and modern woman who was born in England, tours India with her family and that is when she meets Arjun Singh (Akshay Kumar), a die-hard Indian who doesn’t know how to speak English. When insisted by her father, she marries Arjun.

When they return to England, Jazz disapproves the marriage and announces her marriage with another guy. Arjun, however, does not lose hope and fights to get her love back.

8. Barfi!

The story is about Murphy Johnson (Ranbir Kapoor), a mute and deaf boy, and his two loves. Shruti Ghosh(Ileana D’cruz), though already engaged falls in love with Murphy, but when persuaded by her mother leaves him.
Murphy then finds the true love he was looking for in Jhilmil (Priyanka Chopra) who is affected by autism. The story speaks about how true love is not characterized by outward appearances but by a deep inward love.

7. Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na

Jai (Imran Khan) and Aditi (Genelia D’souza) have been die-hard friends, so much so that their parents think that they are in love. However, that is not the case. Only after each of them gets into a relationship and breaks out of it, they realize that they were destined for each other.

6. Aashiqui 2

This love story, with soulful music beautifully surrounding it, stole young hearts all over the country. This movie is a story of a successful musician, Rahul (Aditya Roy Kapoor) who falls in love with an aspiring singer, Aarohi (Shraddha Kapoor) who sings at a bar. Rahul sees the talent in Aarohi and dreams of making her a playback singer. Though it costs him his life, he succeeds in the end.

5. Fanaa

Fanaa is a love story of Rehan (Amir Khan), a terrorist who falls in love with a blind Kashmiri girl, Zooni (Kajol). Unlike others, this story does not end up on a positive note when Zooni shoots Rehan in order to acquire a device which is very crucial for the country. As she does so, Rehan has the chance to shoot her himself but his love for her stops him from doing so.

4. Qayamat se Qayamat Tak

The oldest film on this list ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ saw Amir Khan romancing former Miss India, Juhi Chawla. The story is about two lovers who take on their families and elope trying to find a peaceful life together. The ending is both sad and powerful where the girl is shot dead by a goon and seeing her dead the boy commits suicide.

3. Jab We Met

This is one movie you should watch if you are in love! The story revolves around Geet (Kareena Kapoor), a talkative punjabi girl who is always in her dream world. A pain-stricken Aditya (Shahid Kapoor) meets her and sees how happy she is, realizing the actual way to live life. They depart and Aditya continues with the new found positivity. However, they meet again but this time Aditya is the more talkative of the two with Geet suffering from depression. This is a story that makes you laugh your stomach out and adds a new meaning to the word love.

2. PK

This story takes romance to the extraterrestrial level as PK (Amir Khan) falls in love with Jaggu (played by Anushka Sharma) who is in love with another guy. This movie shares a unique religious message and PK’s love for Jaggu is the icing on the cake.
